Alanui in Hawaiian means Road. The ʻIʻiwi, or scarlet honeycreeper is a species of Hawaiian honeycreeper. The ʻIʻiwi is a highly recognizable symbol of Hawaiʻi. The ʻIʻiwi is the third most common native land bird in the Hawaiian Islands.

General Rules:
-We are proud to be located in a very quiet neighborhood area. Please be respectful of our neighbors at all times and please keep noise to a minimum. When driving on Alanui Iiwi Street, please drive slowly (15 mph speed limit) and yield to oncoming traffic.
-Please remove your shoes. Please hang all of your wet gear outside.
-Wildlife/birds: Please do not feed.
-Locked areas such as Owner’s personal storage areas, are not included within the Rental Property.
Mandatory STVR Rules: In order to be able to host Vacation Rental Guests, we need to comply with specific County rules and regulations. We ask your cooperation in the following: a) Quiet hours from 9:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m., during which time the noise from the rental shall not unreasonably disturb adjacent neighbors.
b) Sound that is audible beyond the property boundaries during non-quiet hours shall not be more excessive than would be otherwise associated with a residential area.
c) Guest vehicles shall be parked in the designated parking area - please park cars in the carport at all times.
d) The STVR shall not be used for commercial purposes.
Heaters : Please refer to detailed instructions below.
Smoking and Use of Candles: Smoking or use of candles anywhere on the property is prohibited.
Trash: All trash must be bagged. Small rubbish bins are located in the kitchen and bathrooms. Please bag all rubbish and place in outdoor garbage bin. For the recyclables, please rinse and place in outdoor blue recycling bin.
First Aid Kit: Located in the Master bathroom, in the top cabinet.
Flashlights/Lanterns: Located under the kitchen sink, master bedroom nightstands, queen bedroom closet, twin bedroom closet. Lanterns are located under bathroom sinks.

When driving on Alanui Iiwi, note that it is a one lane road and drivers are expected to pull over to let oncoming traffic pass. The Speed Limit is 15mph as the road is unpaved and wildlife is abundant at times.

-Smoking & use of candles is not allowed anywhere on the property.
-Please do not throw anything other than toilet paper in the toilets. Place all trash in the designated garbage bins.
-All trash must be bagged.

Check-out Instructions:
10 AM or earlier. - Please let us know if you plan to check out before 10 am.
1) Turn OFF lights
2) Set ceiling fans on low
3) Turn off heater and dehumidifier
4) Please remove all trash from the house. Place in outside garbage bins
5) Close and lock all windows and doors
-Please hang all wet towels.
-Please leave the kitchen neat & tidy and start the dishwasher if necessary.
-Extra food can be left in the fridge/freezer or tightly sealed container on the kitchen counter
Electric Heaters:
-Please pull away from the wall and keep a safe distance from furnishings. Plug directly into wall outlet. To turn ON and control light and temperature, open the door and use switches. Do not leave heaters unattended or on while sleeping.
Kitchen Gas Range:
-Turn knob counter clockwise to “Lite” for about 5 seconds to hear clicking sounds before setting to desired cooking temperature.
Volcano Village
Volcano Village is a quaint & charming town nestled in the rainforest and only a few miles away from Hawaii Volcano National Park. There are a few convenient stores, restaurants, a local farmers market, and other attractions.

Farmers Market: Sunday Volcano Farmers Market at the Cooper Center on Wright Road. The market includes ready-made breakfast food, vegetables and fruits, arts and crafts. Starts around 6:30am and ends at around 9:30 am. Since some vendors sell out quickly, the earlier you get there the better.

Best place to view Halemaʻumaʻu Crater: The Volcano House
Best place to watch videos of erupting volcanoes and ask the rangers questions: Kīlauea Visitor’s Center. The rangers can also tell you about ranger-led events, which are often fascinating.
Best place to view the work of local artists: Volcano Art Center located near the Kīlauea Visitor’s Center.
Best place to hear lectures: Google After Dark in the Park and you will find some Tuesday evening lectures that might interest you. Lectures are given at the Kīlauea Visitor’s Center.

Volcano Winery
Taste and buy exotic locally produced wines. The Volcano Winery is located at 35 Piimauna Drive. Drive south on Highway 11 past the Park entrance and then the next road to the right is Piimauna Drive. Take Piimauna past the Golf and Country Club and all of the way to the back of the subdivision. The Winery is to the left.
Nature Walks and Hikes
- Learn about native plants: Docent led tours through the rainforest are given every Monday morning at Niaulani Art Center on Old Volcano Road in Volcano Village at 9:30am.
